About the Teacher

The Theory and Improvisation Workshop is taught by bassist, arranger, composer and band leader  Maryann McSweeney.

She has performed with the likes of Dizzy Gillespie, Lee Konitz, Dave Liebman,  Larry Goldings, Frank Wess and Vic Juris, just to name a few. She also has worked with famous conductors such as Leonard Bernstein, John Williams and Lalo Schifrin.
Maryanne is a talented musician and educator, often touring Europe and appearing as a guest faculty member in other institutions such as the Julliard School of Music.

Maryann has been teaching at the New York Jazz workshop since 2010 and her current class " Jazz standards with Maryann McSweeney is loved by her students.
